“The annual WID-MI golf outing is a terrific networking opportunity that supports a great cause: Encouraging careers and professional development in the defense industry,” said Amy Courter, president of WID-MI. “The money raised at the golf outing directly benefits women in our community who are committed to becoming industry leaders.”

WID-Michigan established the HORIZONS-Michigan Scholarship in 2009 to encourage women to pursue careers related to the national security and defense interests of the United States, and to provide development opportunities to women already working in these fields. To date, $$48,000 in HORIZONS-Michigan scholarships have been awarded.

Criteria and application details for the HORIZON-Michigan Scholarship are available here. The submission deadline is July 31, 2012.

The event was held at Cherry Creek Golf Club in Shelby Township and had several sponsors, including the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), BAE Systems, Indiana Mills and Manufacturing (IMMI), ManTech International Corporation, and DC3S.
