WID-Michigan to Honor Major General Gwen Bingham at the 6th Annual Black Tie Gala
Women in Defense Michigan Chapter (WID-MI) is pleased to announce its 2014 Excellence in Leadership honoree, Major General Gwen Bingham, Commanding General, U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC). Major General Bingham will be recognized at the 6th annual WID-MI Black Tie Gala on Friday, November 7, 2014.
Major General Bingham is being recognized for her outstanding leadership and dedication to the defense industry and has served in a myriad of staff and leadership positions throughout her career. Her tenure includes a deployment in April 2010 in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom while serving as Special Assistant to the Commanding General, 1st Theater Sustainment Command, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; Kabul, Afghanistan and Kandahar, Afghanistan. Major General Bingham also served as the 51st Quartermaster General of the United States Army and Commandant of the U.S. Army Quartermaster School, Fort Lee, Virginia. Prior to her current assignment, she served as Commanding General, U.S. Army White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.
Established in 2009 by WID-Michigan, the Excellence in Leadership Award recognizes women who have made significant contributions to U.S. defense and national security. Past recipients include the DoD Chief Information Officer, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command Joint Force Provider Officer, U.S. Navy's Diversity Officer, an Executive Director and Chief of Staff at TACOM LCMC.
The organization will also present three Horizon Industry Awards to defense industry professionals for exceptional work, as well as award multiple HORIZONS-Michigan scholarships to local women pursuing degrees that will enhance their defense careers.
